Visiting Hours on Inpatient Unit
Effective February 1, Butler Hospital changed its inpatient unit visiting hours. Our evening visiting hours are now 45 minutes longer and are from 5 to 7:15 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, there will no longer be visiting hours from 12 to 1:30 p.m. This is to improve patient treatment programs during the day.
We continue to have family meetings during the day and these are scheduled by the nurses on the unit. Visitors will be given a date and time to arrive for the meeting. This change is to lessen the disruptions to patients’ treatment programs and time with their clinical team during the day. Thank you for understanding.
During scheduled visiting hours, all inpatient visitors must first check in with Security in the Riverview Building Lobby, which is the main entrance to the hospital. Upon signing in, a visitor pass will be provided for you, as well as directions to the unit you are visiting. Your visitor pass must be worn throughout your visit.
Patient Privacy and ConfidentialityThe Rhode Island Mental Health Law requires that the identity and treatment of all patients be confidential during and after their treatment at Butler Hospital. To check on a patient's condition you should contact a family member who has that information or call Social
Services at (401) 455-6325. Family members should contact Social Services to discuss their concerns and their involvement in treatment and discharge planning.
